Piers and Carolyn were working in Australia back in 1983 when a friend invited them to Bible Study group at our house. They weren't Christians, though Piers had grown up in a high church CofE family. As we studied Romans, they both grew increasingly excited as they understood what it meant to be 'justified'. In the intervening years, they a) financially supported us through Moore College b) spent a year studying at Moore before Piers transferred to Cambridge for ordination studies with the Church of England c)settled in to life leading the excellent church at Arborfield, just outside Reading. Arborfield Church has grown a ministry team and spun off a now-independent church plant... but the most exciting thing about our Sunday morning at church was that so many of the people we met were new Christians. When I met Steve, a recent convent through the ministry of Piers, we concluded that Lou and I were his 'spiritual grandparents.' Hugely encouraging.
