Metro Genius

The Paris Metro is incredibly efficient - trains run every two or three minutes, so if you miss one, there's hardly even time to draw breath before the next train arrives. The lines criss-cross the city, so most destinations require two or three line changes, which you plan from a detailed map. Lou is our undisputed metro genius. I just tag along behind as we magically transfer from line to line. Somehow, it works every time. (The guy in the other photo is a different kind of metro genius - brilliant busking on the clarinet accompanied our ride home from the night viewing of the tower.)

  1. Hi Phil and Louise, So exciting to see you enjoying all these beautiful places - just makes Paul and I nostalgic and homesick (we have such fond memories of travel, and the UK feels a bit like home). How fantastic that the volcano afforded you the opportunity to pass through all that countryside in the train, and visit Switzerland too. I agree, pre-planning is completely overrated - semi-organised wandering is far more satisfactory. We loved your photos of Paris - did you enjoy staying on Montmarte? Did you find lots of non-touristed laneways in your wanderings? Hope you have a great time in the UK. Could be interesting to be there during the election. I looked up Arborfield in our UK directory , so I know where you are. Are you serious about needing travel ideas for the UK for the next week? If so, let me know -I have about 50 000 possibilities. We really want you to come over for wine and cheese when you get home, with your photos and stories. Keep safe and ENJOY that beautiful country we love so much (and often consider moving to.) Love Robbie. P.S Paul said he uses your font regularly
