Our second day in KL featured cheap cab rides, cheap food and a very affordable trip to the movies. Local attractions on today's itinerary included all the 'tall things' we could find. Sadly, we arrived at the Petronas Twin Towers to find the skybridge tours fully booked for the day. Want to do it? No advance bookings, so just turn up tomorrow morning at 7am and queue for 90 minutes. We'll let you know...
Disappointed, we headed over the the parliamentary buildings in another cheap cab, and walked across the historic square where Malaysia was born back in 1957 in blistering 35 degree sunshine*.
A slightly less cheap cab ride, complete with political commentary, brought us back to home base, from where we crossed the road to Times Square Shopping Plaza to see Date Night at the movies. Lou says 'it's a shame we can't recommend it.' A shame, because it kind of had a worthwhile message about trying not to let your marriage get stale, and at about a third the price of a trip to Stafford City for the same movie.
Our evening visit to KL Tower was far more effective, as we watched the sun set over the city skyline.
As we did last night, we topped off the day with an inexpensive outdoor meal in Jalan Alor, though tonight was less delicious and more expensive.
Camera shopping tomorrow, and then on the midnight flight to Rome. I'm shopping for Jo, then renting the Camera from her for the rest of the trip. With help from Bruce M, I've chosen a Panasonic TZ10, at what seems to be a good price. Watch for sample pix in the next post - though iphone photos are much easier to blog on the run.
*The blistering sunshine was today. I'm not sure of the weather conditions back in 1957.
