Day 1 - Kuala Lumpur, Economy Class

The overnight flight to Malaysia was long but uneventful* - except for the fact that Louise was, as usual, chosen for the random full security scan before leaving Brisbane. She managed to warm up the security guy to the point where he cracked a joke that would have got anyone else arrested.
We arrived just before the crack of a humourless dawn, and trained through the sleepy city outskirts to Sentral station, then transferred in the sultry 27 degree morning heat to the monorail for the ride to Imbi station. Jumping off with heavy bags and lightening hearts, we skirted the still-sleepy Times Square shopping centre and found our way down the side street to The Classic Inn.
Not wanting to sound ungracious, I'd have to say that Lou's efforts to find economy class accommodation certainly paid off. Like most streets we walked today, Jalan Pudu is a crazed mess of potholes, jutting concrete bumps, and unexpected kerb lips, all ready to trap and trip the unwary walker. The buildings in the street were in even worse repair. Inside the Inn, though, everything was clean, and the staff were friendly. Time for a quick nap before the exploration begins.

* Uneventful is a relative term. Lou also managed to scald her finger on a cup of tea, and bump her head on the overhead luggage compartment. She says she's doing fine now, thanks.
